Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them (2001)
I don't think I will ever be able to give less than five stars to anything written by JKR.
Again, this was such a cute little book and a light read for in-between.
I enjoyed reading about the many different beasts and beings and loved the introduction by Newt Scamander as well as Harry's and Ron's notes (they were hilarious and such a unique touch!).
The whole library set is a door given to us by JKR that leads us back into the world of Harry Potter and I can only highly recommend them to eve
ry Harry Potter fan.
I'm also very excited about the upcoming "Fantastic Beasts" movie!

I read this because I saw the film--which I liked pretty well--and thought I should--and also as a Rowling completist--read. It's set up as if it were a facsimile of Harry Potter's Hogwarts School textbook written by Newt Scamander. Like the film (so far, anyway, as there are three more films to come, I am told), there's not much story here. It's a short encyclopedia of 75 beasts, some of them familiar to anyone, some of the familiar to wizards and those (like me) who love them: Acromantula (large spiders, just for Ron), Bowtruckles, Chimaera, Doxy, Hungarian Horntail, Flobberworm, Hippogriff, Troll, Werewolf, and so on. The main point of the book is sheer invention, what attracts anyone to fantasy. The creation of fantastic fantastical creatures!
This little book is a little bit amusing, especially for nostalgia's sake. Of course the list is tame compared to an encyclopedia of Japanese Yokai, and might have used the greater imagination of Dr. Seuss, especially for artistic renditions, but this does have Harry's smart-aleck marginal comments throughout.

I read this when I got it at the library, so I don't need to read it here. I rate 5.9/10stars only beacause it can boring at some points.

This is basically Harry Potter and the cursed child disguised as a nod timey book because it is basically copying a script of a movie/play/franchise

This is beautiful book. I love how each character changes. And I especially live the plot, the beasts in the suitcase are described amazingly. I love the magical world. I mean, who doesn't?

I thought this book was really creative. It is Harry Potter's textbook and it describes all the beasts in the magical world. I especially liked the introduction, which discussed how it was determined the differences between a magical being and a magical beast. I also really want to read some of the fake books mentioned in the footnotes, particularly The Philosophy of the Mundane: Why the Muggles Prefer Not to Know. Also, I really wish A History of Magic was a real book. I think I would like the non-fiction of the Harry Potter world.

There’s no such thing as the non-fiction of the Harry Potter (HP) world. Every aspect of the HP world came from Ms. Rowling’s extraordinarily gifted imagination. She created every detail of it. She wasn’t describing a world world that already existed. Therefore any books related to HP would have to be fictional, excluding works that relate to the author herself, or her writing process.

It was interesting to read this after I've just seen the movie for it. I tried to find the beasts, that were mentioned in there, some I did find, some I didn't. Wonderful beasts are collected and described in this book, I can just image how do they look like in real life. :)

The started reading the book before going to watch the movie but reading it or not wouldn't matter because it's in all other league and you can make so many movies by taking 4-5 of these cuties every time. Most fun are the little bits of modifications by Harry and Ron. Loved the little touches and now I am on to next one 'Quidditch through the Ages'
