My husband chose this book for himself so when I picked it up, I had low expectations for it. Happily, it is a great story and well told. It is the recounting of a WWII plane crash in Greenland and the several rescue attempts needed to save the crew. The harsh environment that the airmen had to survive in and the length of their ordeal reminded me of the Shackleton story. The ending here isn't quite as happy as the ending of Shackleton's adventure, but the book is exciting nonetheless....
