A good solid fantasy book, that continues on well from the 1st. Not having to spend whole chapters explaining on the colours magic system definitely helps the pacing and though there aren't the same level of twists and turns, the plot is solid enough with an ending that left me wanting to read on. Though the world building isn't grand nor many of the characters too exciting, the action is solid enough and the banes are definitely a plus. Bonus points for trying to humanise the bad guys, however it doesn’t quite come off due to them literally being monsters. Definitely one to read if you're looking for a fantasy fix.MoreLess
