fatum1808 says: Rating 4.5 Brent Weeks is climbing my list of best Authors. I really liked this story. This one made the main characters feel more like underdogs to me. Despite the Prisms vast powers, it seems like he is overmatched most of the time. It always feels like the odds are against him. The same can be said for his "son" Kip. This is a little weird to me because at the beginning of the last book, everything seemed to be fine in the world and in the space of 2 books, the world seems on t...he verge of catastrophe. That seems kind of fast. Either the Prism really wasn't doing a great job before these events (and by all accounts it appears that he was), or the enemy drafters came together and organized in record time. I am rooting for the prism and Kip, so the ending of this book was kind of a downer, but I am hopeful for the next book. I hope there are wins and losses and not just losses throughout the next book, that could end up being depressing. Stanojka89 says: A good solid fantasy book, that continues on well from the 1st. Not having to spend whole chapters explaining on the colours magic system definitely helps the pacing and though there aren't the same level of twists and turns, the plot is solid enough with an ending that left me wanting to read on. Though the world building isn't grand nor many of the characters too exciting, the action is solid enough and the banes are definitely a plus. Bonus points for trying to humanise the bad guys, however it doesn’t quite come off due to them literally being monsters. Definitely one to read if you're looking for a fantasy fix.MoreLessRead More Read Less
