"As I mentioned on the phone," Barker said, opening the can and taking a light sip, "I'm really pressed today. I hope this won't take" —he looked at his watch and smiled—"more than a half-hour. A big meeting with the boss." Fiona had been apprised by Gail of the meeting in Barker's office at Justice by a message on her answering machine when she returned from the State Department.
